Wow you were the chosen to be, the wingman, right hand man and the Best Man. You may have never done this before and it’s an honor so don’t take the task lightly.
The boys at GroomsOnline have come up with some tips for Best Man duties that will make you look great and show that the groom made the perfect choice.
Couple of months before the Wedding
- Help the groom out. He may be a bit nervous. You don’t have to help him plan the wedding. Just try to help him out with his duties as the groom.
- Tux time! Go shopping and help him pick one out. Make arrangements for the groomsmen to meet for their fitting.
- Well now is the time to round up the boys to get an idea f what kind of Bachelor party you need to plan.
Couple of Weeks before the Wedding
- Best Man Speech preparation.
- preparation. I have been wedding industry professional for a long time now. I have handed the mic over to many best men. I can tell you winging the best man toast is risky. There is also a 99.9% chance that you will look foolish. You should have a prepared toast; it will sound a lot better. Saying the right things with some thought, funny, serious or whatever. You come off looking like a champ!
Couple of days to the Weddings
- Make sure you and the groomsmen get to the tux shop. Make sure to try on the tuxes for any last minute alterations.
- The rehearsal usually takes place before the wedding it can be the night before or a couple of days before. You do a walk through of the ceremony to make sure everyone knows there place. Also to rehearse the slow walk down the aisle or any other funky way the B&G want to walk down the aisle.
- After the rehearsal there is usually a dinner, lunch or BBQ. It’s time to relax and kick back before the big day.
- You may want to bring a survival kit with aspirin, mouthwash, toothbrush, floss, comb, hair gel, visine and whatever else you may think of.
The Ceremony
- On the wedding day. Make sure the groom and all the fellas are looking real good! From head to toe. No hangover look!
- Where are the rings? Remember where you put them!
- Keep your best face on there is pictures and video being shot. No funny faces and try to stay awake.
- Sign marriage license with maid/matron of honor as witnesses
- The get ready for some post ceremony pics
The Reception
- This can include a grand entrance into the reception area.
- Best Man Speech Time. Remember, You the Man! Be prepared don’t wing it!
- Dance with Bride and the brides maids. What! OK ... only if they're babes.
- If you’re driving, start decorating the car and I hope you don't drink and drive. Or hire a limo for the lovely couple.
- You are probably one of the last to leave. Help with packing the gifts, make sure the B&G are on their way to where ever.
You’re the Best Man! Good Luck. See our Best Man Wedding Day Checklist
