Get inspired by a celeb grooms! If a woman can get inspiration from a celebrity bride, why can’t a guy get ideas from famous groom?
If a woman can get inspiration from a celebrity bride, why can’t a guy get ideas from famous groom?
In a high-profile wedding, the groom must know, at least in this current age of tabloid frenzy, that magazines like People, US Weekly and the Bauer rags are going to chronicle as many details as they can. They’ll tell you that when rose petals were thrown, if they landed up or down, and, of course, what the groom wore.
Granted, there’s always going to be more attention to that bridal gown, its girth and its worth. There’s the proverbial question, “who are you wearing?” but if a groom plays his cards just right, he’s going to get the same question asked of him, too.
Take a cue from these famously wed guys. They may not even still be with the one they loved on that day, but what they wore…ah, what they wore will live on in photographic infamy.
Surprisingly Sedate
Expect the unexpected, “they” say. Here are some grooms who might have been expected to be flashier or more avante garde.

Bruce Springsteen’s on-stage wear has changed little from his early days in Asbury Park in the early 1970s (think Levis, and t-shirts or plaid shirts). But for both his 1985 lavish Lake Oswego wedding to model-turned-actress Julianne Phillips, as well as his 1991 follow-up nuptials with long-time love and back-up singer Patti Scialfa (by then already mother to the couple’s first child), the boss wore a traditional black tuxedo. Whether it was the same tux, it’s not known for certain.
When he moved in with her, he characteristically brought along with him life-size likenesses of Winston Churchill and a cow. In their Vera Wang gown and his elegant Armani tux, they made it through the ceremony, reception and wedding night, but the next morning, Stapp partied a little too much and was refused boarding on their honeymoon flight. A surly Stapp was arrested for public intoxication.

Both Charles and his younger brother Andrew married (for the first time, at least) in military uniforms. Meanwhile, youngest brother Prince Edward, married his Duchess, Sophie, in a morning suit.
